The CHWW apprenticeship is a government-funded programme designed to upskill staff in health and care settings to take on key community-facing roles.
The programme is approximately 15 months long and requires apprentices to to allocate 6 hours of their working time, per week, to the apprenticeship - which is split between teaching and workshops, self -paced learning and the practical application of skills.
Apprentices learn how to:
- Support people with social, emotional, and practical needs
- Promote health, wellbeing, and independence
- Navigate local services and reduce pressure on clinical teams
- Build trust with individuals and communities
The apprenticeship is ideal for staff in non-clinical patient or community facing roles (Care Coordinators, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Patient Navigators etc) who want to develop skills in prevention, personalised care, and social prescribing.
Before you apply for the apprenticeship please make sure understand your eligibility and suitability for the programme, as well as ensuring you have support from your line manager to commit training hours.
