Massachusetts Center for the Book Survey
The Massachusetts Center for the Book (MCB) is celebrating its 20th year as the Commonwealth Affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress (LOC). We are part of a lively network of state centers operating in every state as well as in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, all of which promote books, reading, literacy, and libraries.
As a state center, we represent Massachusetts in the Parade of States at the National Book Festival, administer the Massachusetts component of the student reading/writing program, Letters About Literature, collaborate on regional reading initiatives such as Route 1 Reads, nominate Massachusetts organizations for the Library of Congress State Literacy Awards, and create links between the resources of our nation’s library and readers in our commonwealth.
We also create and administer Massachusetts-specific programming: the annual Massachusetts Book Awards, statewide, regional, and local literary and cultural trails/tours, and a statewide calendar of events in the Massachusetts library community.
As we look forward to our next 20 years, we invite you to help us take stock of our successes, identify places where we can make improvements, and imagine future activities of importance to you and the larger community of the book in Massachusetts.
This survey should take only a few minutes to complete. Your responses will be completely anonymous. (Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required.)
