Following community requests from MCC's Flood Risk Workshop in May, we're heading out to Hinetai Hops in Tapawera for a practical look at willows in action.
Dean Palmer will share how willows protected his hop farm in last year's floods — and how giving the river more room has been part of his approach. Appletons Tree Nursery and Tasman District Council will cover propagation, species selection and right tree, right place principles. Picnic lunch provided.
