The Physical Activity in Childhood Epilepsy (PACE) - Prime Study

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Physical Activity in Childhood Epilepsy (PACE) – Prime study.

The PACE prime study aims to:

1. Compare levels of physical activity in primary school-aged (6-10 years) children with ‘active’ epilepsy, and age and gender-matched healthy controls, using both survey methods and activity trackers (accelerometer).
2. Understand factors (e.g. age, gender, seizure related factors, sleep, behaviour-emotional functioning, school learning and parent wellbeing) which may be associated with physical activity, including structured exercise/sports participation, in children with epilepsy.
3. Gather pilot data on physical activity levels in children with epilepsy and explore the feasibility of implementing an intervention to improve levels of physical activity in children with epilepsy.

This is a self-referral pathway to participate in this project.
It is a short survey and will only take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

In order to process your self-referral we need to make sure that you are eligible to participate.

When you are ready please proceed to the next page, which will take you through the inclusion criteria.

If you meet the criteria you will have an option to complete an expression of interest form at the end of the survey which will be received by the research team at Young Epilepsy. We will then be in contact to take you through the study to see if you would still like to participate and you will be provided with participant information sheets.

By participating in this survey, you are under no obligation to sign up or participate.

If you do not meet the selection criteria, then you will not be able to participate in this study and the survey will end. This may be disappointing but there are always more studies to participate in. If you would like to see what other research you may be able to participate in, contact your doctor or specialist nurse. Inclusion criteria is vital to all research as it is part of ensuring that the research is a fair test.

So when you are ready, please go to the next page.
