Every three years, WNC Healthy Impact, coordinated by
WNC Health Network (WNCHN), compiles a comprehensive regional dataset that highlights health challenges and opportunities across the 18 counties of western North Carolina (Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Yancey, and Mitchell).
The dataset combines:
- Secondary data (existing data sources), and
- Primary data (collected directly by WNCHN),
to provide a comprehensive picture of health across the region. These data support the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)/Community Health Assessment (CHA) process and help hospitals and local health departments meet state and federal assessment requirements.
The Community Health Survey is the primary method for collecting new community data. It allows each county to gather information on local health issues while also giving community members the opportunity to share their health concerns, priorities, and lived experiences.
We are now preparing for the 2027 regional Community Health Survey and are seeking your input on the most important health-related data gaps in western North Carolina.
Your feedback will:
- Be reviewed by the WNC Regional Data Team.
- Help inform the design of the 2027 regional Community Health Survey.
- Help inform the design of the 2027 regional Online Key Informant Survey.
- Guide additional primary and secondary data collection efforts.
