Survey responses will be provided to the Hamilton Police Services Crime Manager for the Kirkendall area, A/S A. Butt so that he can better address concerns at the upcoming KNA AGM on April 22. The information will also be used as feedback during an upcoming Police Superintendents’ Neighbourhood Liaison meeting.
Definitions:

Robberies - The action of taking property unlawfully from a person or place by force or threat of force. It is sometimes also referred to as larceny by threat or force. Because robbery involves injury or the threat of injury, it is considered a more serious crime than many of the other theft crimes. ( Example : Bank is robbed when suspects is masked and threatens clerk with knife, gun, etc and demands money)

Commercial B & E (Break and Enter) - the criminal act of entering a business or other enclosed property through the slightest amount of force (even pushing open a door), without authorization. If there is no such intent, the breaking and entering alone is probably at least illegal trespass, which is a misdemeanour crime.

Thefts from Auto - is an opportunity based crime and offenders target easy vehicles. When vehicles are not locked and individuals steal things from inside or smash windows if they see valuables.

Mischief to Auto - charges for damage to motor vehicles. One common form of criminal mischief is when individuals intentionally cause damage to someone else's vehicle. This crime can be spontaneous or planned but is most often the result of an individual looking for revenge against someone else. (Example: Individual smashes windows to gain access into vehicle, however, nothing stolen once inside)

Stolen Auto - Motor vehicle theft is the criminal act of stealing or attempting to steal a motor vehicle without the owners consent.

Graffiti -  writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place. (example: spray painting fences, garages, city property, public property, etc.. the list is long)
