CAPHIA Biostatistics Educational Excellence in Public Health Network Co-chairs

Expression of Interest

Dear BEEPH Network members,

We're reaching out with an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of biostatistics education in public health across Australasia.

The Biostatistics Educational Excellence in Public Health (BEEPH) Network was established on a strong vision: to bring together academics delivering biostatistics within public health programs, sharing innovations, spotlighting pedagogical research, and collectively tackling teaching challenges.

We want to take a moment to sincerely thank our inaugural Co-Chairs, Dr Erin Cvejic (University of Sydney) and Katrina Blazek (UNSW), for getting the network off the ground and laying strong foundations. Both have taken on significant additional responsibilities within their institutions and have made the difficult decision to step back from their leadership roles. We're enormously grateful for the energy and expertise Katrina and Erin brought to the network.

One of the challenges has been that conversations in the network have tended to circle back to broader, sector-wide challenges such as secure assessment and the impact of generative AI, rather than being Biostatistics specific. We wonder if there are still areas for BEEPH to dig into, and is there real appetite in the community to do so?

We're now looking for two members who would like to step up as Co-Chairs and take the next step with BEEPH. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a community of practice, contribute to the CAPHIA ecosystem, and help drive excellence in quantitative literacy across our sector.
