Nick Timothy MP: Listening to residents about the future of Lakenheath

Dear Lakenheath resident

Lakenheath is growing quickly. A total of 720 new homes already have outline or detailed planning permission. This means the village is set to grow by more than a third by the mid-2030s, with around 1,700 new residents joining the community.

A new school is being built to support this growth, and it is due to open in September 2026.

As Lakenheath continues to change and grow, I welcome the announcement of up to £20 million in Pride in Place funding for the village over the next ten years. This is a major investment in Lakenheath’s future — one that builds on the Conservative government’s work to strengthen local communities and restore pride in place.

Now I want to hear from you how you think this money should be spent.

To shape how the funding is directed, a Neighbourhood Board will be created, made up of residents, a ward councillor, community organisations, local businesses, and me as your MP. The Board will be chaired by an independent appointee chosen by the local authority after consultation with me.

The Board’s job will be to develop a ten-year vision for Lakenheath, supported by a detailed Regeneration Plan. This plan will set out specific projects and investments, designed to complement other government funding in the area and, where possible, combine with other sources to deliver the best results.

Possible projects include improvements to the High Street, new green spaces, better roads, and enhanced bus services.

The make-up of the Neighbourhood Board is expected to be confirmed by July 2026, with the Regeneration Plan submitted to the Government by winter 2026–27. Decisions on approval are expected by spring 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Lakenheath — a chance for all of us to shape the future of the village together. But to make it a success, I need to hear from you.

If you are a resident of Lakenheath or the surrounding area, I would be very grateful if you would take a few moments to fill in your answers to the questions below.

Best wishes
Nick Timothy, Member of Parliament for West Suffolk
