Developing Leadership - In Sport and In Life

Aims of the Program:

 ·  To provide mentorship, guidance and experience to engaged and enthusiastic young adult leaders within the sporting Club Committee environment.

·  To develop Management and Leadership skills essential in operating a functional sporting Club Committee, and

·  To promote succession planning within the sporting Club Committees of Maccabi Victoria
Eligibility:
Spaces in this program are limited, so only those driven and committed to the Program and success should apply:

It's simple! You must be:

 ·       passionate about sport and Maccabi and would love to volunteer their time on your Club Committee

·       seeking to develop their leadership skills beyond the field

·       committed to six evening workshops spread across a calendar year (not during Jewish holidays, weekends or university holidays)

The Program:

There will be a series of 4-6 educational and inspirational workshops that the participants will attend over a 10-12 month period. These workshops will focus on specific leadership and management skills that are required for the participant to be an active member of a sports club, which can then also be transferred into their professional careers.

Examples of the types of workshops that could be offered:
  • Introduction to the Mentorship Program
  • Effective Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Strategic Leadership and Developing a Clear Vision
  • Ensuring a Financially Sustainable Sports Club
  • Risk Analysis
  • Innovative Leadership both on and off the Sports Field
Application and Selection Process:

There is NO COST involved. You just need to show your commitment to the program by attending the 6 workshops and working with your mentor and sporting club Board after the program is complete.

Applicants will be selected after attending a face to face meeting with the Program Co-ordinator.

On Completion of the Program :

Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion signed by Maccabi Victoria as well as the National Leadership Committee outlining the commitment they have provided over the 12-month period. Following completion, the participant will ideally join the Club Committee in either a Board, Project or other capacity.

The Victorian State representative of the National Leadership Committee will be responsible for providing regular support for the participant in the year following their allocation to their respective club, together with ongoing support from the Club.
