5.HB 1085/SB 5272 improves school safety by extending penalties for intimidation, threat of force or violence at school-related athletic activities.

6.HB 1110 vacates a DUI conviction if the person has not has a subsequent alcohol or drug-related traffic conviction within five years of the date of conviction. A prior offense of DUI qualifies as a prior offense if the later prosecution is within 15 years of the date of the conviction.

7.HB 1125/SB 5269 enables judges to review and shorten long prison sentences if they no longer serve the interests of justice. Washington abolished it's parole system in 1984 and currently, only prosecutors can bring forward motions of earlier release for rehabilitated prisoners.

This bill would change that by allowing defense counsel to also get the case before a judge to determine whether the sentence still serves the interests of justice under certain circumstances.

9.HB 1169/SB 5105 removes the requirement that minors be identifiable for the purposes of criminal liability related to sexually explicit depictions of minors. Currently, a person may be charged with a range of criminal offenses for viewing, possessing, or sending sexually explicit depictions of a minor but only if the depicted minor is identifiable.

10.HB 1276 creates a 12-month sentencing enhancement for Organized Retail Theft when the property stolen or possessed has a value of $20,000 or more, and a 24-month sentencing enhancement for the offense when the property stolen or possessed has a value of $50,000 or more.

11.HB 1315 reduces the breath or blood alcohol concentration limit for driving or having physical control of a motor vehicle from 0.08 to 0.05 percent.

12.HB 1512/SB 5521 addresses traffic safety by encouraging law enforcement to prioritize traffic stops related to driving behaviors such as distracted driving and speeding, over traffic stops for car maintenance issues such as a broken taillight or nonmoving violations such as expired tabs.
