NCL Training Hub would like to offer an opportunity to declare a non-binding expression of interest in hosting a Foundation Trainee Pharmacist (FTP) as part of a multi sector partnership with either
- a local community pharmacy, primarily for the purpose of supporting the FTP to complete their prescribing competency OR
- Community services OR
- Secondary or tertiary care organisation such as
- Acute hospital
- Mental health setting
- Ambulance service
- Specialist hospital such as Great Ormond Street Hospital or National Orthopaedic Hospital
4. Where the placement is primarily to support the FTP in achieving their prescribing competency, they must have access to a:
- prescribing environment
- Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP)
If your organisation is a primary employer for a FTP, this placement can be a reciprocal non-remunerated rotational placement, where you effectively swap with a FTP employed by a community pharmacy.
If you organisation does not directly employ a FTP, you can agree to a non-reciprocal remunerated placement.
In addition, the placement arrangements can be negotiated and mutually agreed, some examples that have worked in the past include:
- 13 weeks continuous block placement, 37.5 hours per week
- 26 weeks continuous block placement, 37.5 hours per week
- 1 day per week for minimum of 13 weeks, or up to 52 weeks
- 2 days per week for minimum of 6 weeks, or up to 52 weeks
- 2.5 days per week for minimum of 5 weeks, or up to 52 weeks
