Youth Advisory Group training survey |
Welcome to My Survey
YACWA is excited to announce that will be offering a new training program in 2022 all about Youth Advisory Groups (YAGs).
There is considerable research and practical evidence that when you involve young people in the design and delivery of services that you get better outcomes. And the number of youth advisory groups and committees in WA over the last decade has exploded.
However, organisations often struggle to set them up and maintain them in a way that is both meaningful for their organisation and the young people involve. Questions about YAGs make up a significant proportion of our enquiries at YACWA. We also know that many young people on Youth Advisory Groups are not having positive experiences, with common complaints being that the they feel their group is tokenistic or they don't have real input into decision making, that they aren't provided adequate support or training, and that their time isn't valued or respected.
YACWA has significant skill and expertise in this area, and the Department of Communities has provided us with short-term funding to develop two FREE training sessions that will upskill the sector in establishing and running a best practice Youth Advisory Group. This training is being co-designed with YACWA's Youth Consultants who have all had experience of being part of Youth Advisory Groups in a range of settings.
To make sure that this training meets your needs, we want to hear from you. Completing this short survey will help tailor the content of the training. It should only take five minutes of your time. The survey closes 5pm, Thursday 24th December.
** We will also be running a training for young people who are either considering joining a YAG or who are already a member, or what to expect and what good practice looks like (and how to advocate for it).
