Background and Instructions

Now in its third year, the National Fund Young Adult Employer Champions Recognition Program is designed to identify best practices and celebrate employers who provide high-quality jobs and successfully hire and retain 18-29-year-old young adults who are unemployed or underemployed and not enrolled in school.  Armed with this valuable information, the National Fund disseminates effective practices and examples to a wide audience through traditional media, social media, and national conferences. As a result, we hope to develop a deeper understanding of how industry partnerships and employers can effectively engage, hire, and advance 18-29-year-old young adults, so that employers and workforce development collaboratives across the country can better appreciate the potential of young adults as high-quality employees, and invest in them accordingly.

This year, we are expanding the categories for nominees to include employers in three areas:
  1. EmploymentEmployers who do exemplary work with community partners and training providers to identify, prepare, and hire unemployed or underemployed young adults who are not enrolled in school and do not have postsecondary credentials.
  2. Apprenticeship. Employers who participate in pre-apprenticeship and/or apprenticeship programs aimed at preparing unemployed or underemployed young adults who are not enrolled in school for in-demand occupations.
  3. Advancement. Employers who are making focused and sustained efforts to stabilize and advance their young adult entry-level workers, providing education, training, and/or related supports which promote advancement and movement into career pathways.
Collaboratives may nominate up to three employers. Employers may be nominated in one or multiple categories, but a separate application must be submitted for each category. In addition, employers are welcome to self-nominate.

The nomination process is as follows:
