YAC Information Sheet

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 29
What is YAC?
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) of Fremont Area Community Foundation is a student-run committee focused on meeting the needs of Newaygo County youth through grantmaking and service-learning. The committee is comprised of high school students representing Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud public high schools as well as the homeschooling community. YAC members participate in community service, determine the needs of local youth, and review grant requests and make recommendations to the Community Foundation Board of Trustees.

What is the commitment?
YAC typically meets the second Friday of the month from September to May, from 8:45 a.m. to 12p.m. at the Community Foundation office. Schools have approved the time away from class, and lunch is provided at meetings. Each year, YACers also participate in up to three community service projects.

Once selected, students are asked to be YAC members until their high school graduation.

Who should apply?
YAC is looking for up to two new representatives from each school: one 9th grader and one student who can currently be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade.

Applicants should be responsible students with leadership potential, positive attitudes, and a desire to be part of a team. Applicants should be willing to attend all YAC meetings.
