Educational Equity in Neurosurgical Training: An International Survey

Survey Introduction

Neurosurgical training aims to provide all trainees with the knowledge, technical skills, clinical judgment, professionalism, and professional development required for independent practice. However, access to educational and training opportunities may vary because of differences in training structures, institutional practices, available resources, or personal characteristics, potentially leading to inequities during residency.

For the purpose of this survey, educational equity is defined as fair and transparent access to the educational and training opportunities necessary to develop competency throughout neurosurgical residency, including mentorship, operative experience, research opportunities, competency-based assessment, and an inclusive training environment.

This survey aims to explore how trainees and early-career neurosurgeons perceive educational equity during residency and to identify opportunities to improve the fairness, transparency, inclusiveness, and standardization of neurosurgical training.

Although this survey is primarily intended for residents, fellows, and early-career neurosurgeons, responses from more experienced neurosurgeons are also welcome, as they may provide valuable perspectives on neurosurgical training.
