Velvet Foundation HIV/AIDS Survey

The Velvet Foundation is a 501(c)3 with the purpose of collecting, preserving, and interpreting artifacts and other tangible and intangible objects pertaining to, or associated with, the history and culture in the United States of America of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other persons of non-traditional sexual orientation or gender identity ("LGBT Experience") and to establish, support, operate, and promote a national museum chronicling the LGBT Experience.

In this spirit, a proposed exhibition, which specifically tells the story of the LGBT community in the face of the HIV/AIDS crisis, is necessary and timely for older and younger generations, alike – now more than thirty years after the epidemic began in June 1981.

The Velvet Foundation aims to establish such an exhibit to chronicle the story of HIV/AIDS through the lens of the LGBT community in advance of the International AIDS Conference, coming to Washington, DC in July 2012. As such, I am soliciting your help to develop a theme for the exhibit and gain perspective on artifacts and stories to include.

Please take time to complete the following short (5-minute) survey to help us in this effort. The survey is anonymous; however, you will be given the opportunity to provide your contact information, if you'd like. You need not complete the entire survey. This is only the preliminary phase of data gathering before an initial exhibition script and proposal is developed.
