Participant Information

Purpose of this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether personality has any affect on a student's motivation to learn.

Do I have to take part?

No. It is up to you to decide whether or not you want to take part in this study. Please take your time to decide. You will be asked to sign a consent form, but can withdraw from the study at any point from during the study until up to 4 weeks after completion. If you wish to have your data withdrawn please contact the researcher with your participant pseudonym and your data will then be destroyed.

What will happen to me if I agree to take part?

If you agree to take part firstly you will be asked to sign a consent form and create a pseudonym so your data can be withdrawn from the study should you decide so afterwards. You will then be asked to complete two questionnaires. Questionnaire one will be about your motivation to learn and the second questionnaire will be about your personality, they should take no longer than approx.. 20-25 minutes. You will be awarded 25 research credits once completed.

Will the information I give stay confidential?

Everything you say/report is confidential. The information you give may be used for a research report, but it will not be possible to identify you from our research report or any other dissemination activities. Personal identifiable information (e.g. pseudonym) will be securely stored and kept for the duration of the research, then securely disposed of afterwards. The research data (e.g. questionnaire scores) will be securely stored and may be used for further research purposes.

What will happen to the results of the research study?

This research is being carried out as part of my Psychology Undergraduate Independent Study at the University of Worcester. The findings of this study will be reported as part of my dissertation and may also be published in academic journals or at conferences
