This costs 10k or 6 weeks of labour in the course of a year; or any combination of labour and capital you can offer which totals 10k. Membership makes you a co-owner of the property and the business. Community cooperatives have democratic governance and equitable resource distribution.

How much of the membership fee will you provide as capital?

We need to know this so we can calculate if the community can raise enough capital for the project to fly. The minimum is 2 million which can be achieved by 200 people paying 10k, this will pay to buy the property and the initial renovations. The goal is 2.5 million which can be achieved by 250 members paying 10k which allows the cooperative to buy the block behind for a terraced community garden with outdoor seating and outdoor play area for children. Beyond 2.5 million will be invested in landscaping, products for sale, initial salaries and start up costs.

Thank you for participating in this survey. The Marino Rocks Community Cafe Team will keep this page live for individuals to register their interest and commitment, until August 23. On August 23 the process will stop and we will assess if there has been enough interest in the community for the project to work. A second community meeting will be held on August 23 to announce the results and next steps.
