To better facilitate attendance and participation at the
Connected Minds 2025 Conference being held on October 6-8, 2025, the
Black and Indigenous Trainee Travel Award and
Early Career Researcher Travel Award have been developed to cover the cost of basic travel fare to and from Toronto, accommodations for a room in the Schulich Hotel & Conference Centre, and conference registrations fees for applicants presenting a poster or abstract at the Conference. Award recipients will be selected at random from the applicant pool.
Please Note: This opportunity is not open to Connected Minds members or funded trainees at York or Queen's.
To be
eligible, for either Travel Award, applicants must be presenting a poster or oral presentation (i.e., abstract) at the conference.
To be
eligible, for the Black and Indigenous Trainee Travel Award, applicants must identify as either Black (American, Canadian, Caribbean, and/or African) and/or Indigenous Peoples of Canada (First Nation, Métis, and/or Inuit) by completing a self-identification survey found on Page 2 of this Survey.
Note: Applicants of the Early Career Researcher Travel Award
do not have to complete a self-identification survey.
The self-identification information can only be accessed by the Connected Minds Program Director (Caitlin Mullin), and EDI and Community Outreach Specialist (Andrew Castillo).
Self-identification information will be password protected and kept on a secure server only accessed by the Connected Minds staff members mentioned above. Information will remain in the server until 2037 as mandated by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF).
