Shaping the Future of Volunteer Engagement Leadership

This short survey is designed to gather global and domestic perspectives ahead of the AL!VE Summit plenary, “The Future of Volunteer Engagement Leadership” sponsored by the Susan J. Ellis Foundation. Your input will help inform and enrich the live discussion and ensure your voice is represented, even if you are unable to attend in person.

Please note that your insights may be shared—anonymously or with attribution—as part of the AL!VE plenary session or in future publications, such as the Engage Journal.

Thank you for helping shape the future of our field!

For purposes of this survey, we define “leadership” as the individuals, organizations or systems contributing to the direction, influence, and evolution of the volunteer engagement field as a whole—not leading within your own organization or directly supporting volunteers.
6.In one word, phrase or sentence, how would you describe the current state of leadership in the field of volunteer engagement today
7.What is one challenge or barrier to advancing leadership in volunteer engagement in your region or context?
8.Where do you see innovation or promise in volunteer engagement leadership, locally or globally?
SECTION 3: Looking Ahead
9.What kind of leadership does the volunteer engagement field most need in the next 5–10 years to thrive and be taken seriously across sectors?
10.What advice or encouragement would you offer to emerging leaders in the volunteer engagement field today?
11.In some contexts, leadership in volunteer engagement is viewed as temporary or transitional rather than a long-term professional focus. How does this perception—if it exists—affect the credibility, continuity, and influence of the field as a whole?
