CP CAL CONFERENCE XVI
April 22, 23 and 24, 2022
Submission deadline: October 10, 2021

Proposals are being accepted for Pre-Celebration Institutes (6-hour Workshops), 3-hour Workshops, 90-minute Workshops, and 1-hour Plenaries.

Continuing Education Credits
CP Cal strives to provide a range of professional continuing education credits. If you anticipate your PCI/Plenary/Workshop will qualify for credit please be prepared to provide the following information required for continuing education applications within 30 days of workshop approval and email separately to Christine@cpcal.com:

MCLE
If you anticipate your workshop qualifying for MCLE CE credit, please prepare the following documents for submission to the California State Bar:
  • Short summary of the content and how it relates to legal subjects directly relevant to licensees of the State Bar or has significant current professional and practical content
  • Timed outline
  • Substantive presenter materials (PowerPoint, agendas, handouts)
  • Presenter(s) bio/resume(s)
In addition, if your workshop includes content eligible for Ethics, Elimination of Bias, or Substance Abuse, Mental or Physical Issues that Impair the lawyers Professional Competence, and/or qualifies for specialization units in Family Law and/or Trusts & Estates, please prepare the following:
The following are examples of what is acceptable for legal CE credit:
  • Substantive content such as child and spousal support, parenting plans, tax implications of divorce, and the like;
  • Activities relating to management of a law practice or law office, including case management and effective calendaring, malpractice avoidance, maintenance of ethical attorney communications and attorney-client relationship, ethical management of client trust funds and other law office financial affairs, operational management of a solo law office, law firm, or corporate law department.
Examples of what is not acceptable for legal CE credits:
  • A legal subject taught to non- attorneys
  • Programs or portions of an activity that teach attorneys how to improve marketing, develop new clients or increase revenue.
  • Nonlegal functions such as business development, team building, committee meetings or any recreational activity.
  • Writing for, to or on behalf of a client in the regular practice of law.
  • Activities primarily intended to market or sell the presenter's technology, products, services or skills.
  • Programs that teach or enhance a person's ability to prepare and present an MCLE activity.
  • Reviewing and evaluating the legal work of associates or other attorneys by more experienced attorneys (for example, performance evaluations or a mentoring program).
  • Programs that discuss pending court case or litigation, an appeal or any client matter by the participants in the pending case, litigation appeal or client matter.
  • Time spent in conducting a roll call or connecting to the teleconference
  • Online discussions or written comments posted on public forums
  • Courses on general business writing or basic English grammar
  • Informal discussion groups
  • Preparation for admission to practice law in any state, the District of Columbia, and territory of the U.S., or any foreign jurisdiction, or for time spent actually taking such examinations
  • Educational programs on mentoring new attorneys
  • Registering for a program or viewing vendor exhibits and demonstrations
  • Breaks or rest periods lasting more than five minutes, mealtimes without a scheduled speaker, receptions, evaluations, tours, certificates and/or awards or vendor demonstrations
  • Networking, the use of social media to network or for marketing
MFT/LCSW
If you anticipate your workshop qualifying for CE credits from BBS please prepare the following documents to be submitted for consideration:
  • Course Learning Objectives
  • Course Abstract
  • Course Outline
  • Presenter Bio/Resume
PSYCHOLOGIST
If you anticipate your workshop qualifying for CE credits for Psychologists, please prepare the following documents to be submitted for consideration:
  • A timed outline
  • Presenter CVs
  • Learning Obectives (at least 3 for a half day or less and 4-5 for a full day workshop
  • A Bibliography with references that support the learning.

CFP

If you anticipate your workshop qualifying for CE credits from the CFP Board please prepare the following documents to be submitted for consideration:
  • Learning Objectives
  • Course Description
  • Timed outline
  • Substantive presenter materials
  • Handouts
  • Presenter(s) bio/resume(s)
The following are topics the CFP Board accepts for CE credit:
  • Professional Conduct and Regulation
  • General Principles of Financial Planning
  • Education Planning
  • Risk Management and Insurance Planning
  • Investment Planning
  • Tax Planning
  • Retirement Savings and Income Planning
  • Estate Planning
The following are topics that DO NOT qualify for CE credit:
  • Practice Management
  • Public Accounting
  • Computer Hardware or Software
  • Marketing, Prospecting or Sales
  • Specific Company or Pro
Before proceeding, please be sure to have the following ready to input. We suggest you write up your proposal in a word processing program and then paste each response into this submission form. By doing so, you will mitigate the chance of data loss and you will have a copy of your submission.

• A title and a “program ready” description of 80 words or fewer for the Celebration brochure. CP Cal reserves the right to edit descriptions.
• The name of the person who will be coordinating your PCI/Plenary/Workshop.
• Complete contact and credential information for all proposed presenters. (Maximum of five presenters per workshop; additional presenters will be considered upon request).
• An abstract of 250 words or fewer describing your proposed PCI/Plenary/Workshop.
• Three learning objectives that will be addressed by your proposed PCI/Plenary/Workshop.
• The level at which your proposed PCI/Plenary/Workshop is targeted: beginning, intermediate, advanced.
• For research proposals, include brief descriptions of your methodology, results, conclusions and applications for practice, policy implications and future research.
• One-paragraph bios for all presenters (for inclusion in the Celebration book and website).

CP Cal is unable to guarantee consideration of incomplete proposals or those submitted after the deadline.

For 90-minute and 3-hour workshops, presenters will be awarded a $100 honorarium in the form of a registration discount, up to a maximum of $300 per workshop ($100 for each of three presenters). Each presenter shall receive no more than one $100 registration discount. Honoraria for Pre-Celebration Institutes and Plenaries are modest and negotiable.
