Youth Advisory Council Application 2026 - 2027 MTS is launching the first Youth Advisory Council in the history of the agency. This council will provide youth and young adult riders ages 16 - 24 an opportunity to share their experience of riding public transportation and learn more about the MTS system. The Youth Advisory Councilmembers will provide insight into public transportation while gaining leadership skills and working with their fellow representatives to make a positive contribution towards public transportation in San Diego. The MTS Youth Advisory Council will meet on alternative months for a total of six (6) meeting. Selected representative will be required to attend and participate in meetings and activities throughout the year. Regular meetings will be held in person at the MTS headquarters (1255 Imperial Ave. San Diego, CA 92101) and will be approximately 60 - 90 minutes per meeting. Representatives will also have the opportunity to participate in on-going projects through out the year, which may require an additional time commitment. When applying, applicants should expect to: Serve for a minimum of one year Attend all six (6) meetings throughout the year (approx. 60 – 90 minutes per meeting) Engage in the discussion throughout the meeting Help prepare a year-end presentation to MTS staff Minimum Requirements: Aged 16 – 24 as of July 1, 2026 Residing in, attending school or working in the MTS service area (Cities of Chula Vista, Coronado, El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Poway, Santee, San Diego, and surrounding unincorporated areas of the County of San Diego) Other Application Considerations: MTS ridership Strength of written answers Availability to regularly attend council meetings Competitiveness from other applications in the same service area The deadline for applications is Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST.This application will consistent of multiple choice and short answer questions.
