Applicant Commitments

EXploring Interests in Technology and Engineering (EX.I.T.E.) Camp is a fun and educational program that allows girls and gender expansive youth with disabilities to explore the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. The goal is to inspire participants to continue to pursue these areas of study through hands-on experiments and activities. PACER Center partners with local and national STEM companies and guest speakers to provide rich learning content. We strive to provide an accessible, inclusive, and safe environment that encourages learning and excitement for all campers. EX.I.T.E. Camp is held in-person at the PACER office (Bloomington, MN).

Please read and acknowledge the below commitments of being an EX.I.T.E. Camp teacher.

1. Attend the EX.I.T.E. opening ceremony on July 8th in addition to helping at all-day sessions on July 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th, 19th, and participate in the closing ceremony on July 19th, 2024.
2. Participate in a minimum of two camp planning meetings prior to camp at PACER in Bloomington, MN (or virtually).
3. Design ice breaker activities that encourage social interactions, relationship building, creativity, and teamwork.
4. Understand the activities and utilize UDL for each camp day and assist company partner volunteer teams to differentiate activities according to camper strengths and needs.
5. Assist in teaching activities to the campers, with the ability to use classroom management strategies and agreed-upon positive behavior management.
6. Provide a supportive environment for learning that embraces differences in learning styles and help to ensure each camper feels supported and confident during camp activities.
