Five County Association of Governments is updating a regional economic development strategy for the area covering Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Kane, and Washington County. This strategy is known as the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). One of the key pieces of the strategy is to identify the economic strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, also known as a SWOT analysis.

Your input will provide information from local businesses and help leaders set informed economic goals for our region. Five County staff look forward to reviewing your answers from this four-question survey.

INFO - A SWOT analysis identifies the region’s competitive advantages—those assets that make the region special or competitive in the national and global economies—juxtaposed against those internal or external factors that can keep a region from realizing its potential.

  • Strengths are a region’s relative competitive advantages and often are internal in nature;
  • Weaknesses are a region’s relative competitive disadvantages, also often internal in nature;
  • Opportunities are chances or occasions for regional improvement or progress, often external in nature; and
  • Threats are chances or occasions for negative impacts on the region or regional decline, also often are external in nature.
