Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists - Colorado Members Only

Mission:
The mission of the scholarship program is to advance the role of the diabetes educator in Colorado through continuing education and certification/credentialing.

Scholarship Guidelines: 
• Awards are limited each year based on available funding – to be determined each year by the Colorado Coordinating Body board.
• Scholarships may be used for a national diabetes conference registration, the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) exam, or continuing education related to diabetes care and education.

2022 Scholarship opportunities
• Two scholarships of $250.00 will be awarded to two members and may be used for ADCES' conference or other CE activity in 2022.
• Two awards of $350.00 will be awarded to two persons taking the CDCES or BC-ADM exam for the first time.

Qualification, Application, and Reimbursement:
• Applicants must be an ADCES member 
• Applicants are eligible for a scholarship award only once every three years. For example, if you received an award in 2019 or earlier, you are eligible to apply again for a scholarship in 2022.
• Applicants must complete the attached application and submit electronically by midnight on or before May 31, 2022. No late entries will be considered.
• Scholarship awards will be announced June 30, 2022 via email and recognized on our Facebook and Instagram page and will be announced in our Newsletter.
• Activities which are eligible must occur within the current fiscal year. Applicants may apply for a scholarship for any activity which they have already attended or will attend in 2022.
• Recipients will submit expenses on the 2022 ADCES reimbursement form. If total registration fee is less than the scholarship granted, recipient may use remainder for conference expenses (travel, hotel, books). However, the entire amount must be submitted together, as only one check will be written by ADCES for each recipient. Any remaining monies will be forfeited. The form will be submitted and approved by the ADCES financial chair.  ADCES will send the check to the recipient directly.
• The award must be claimed within the current fiscal year which is January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022. Late receipts will not be accepted.

Scholarship Selection:
The Scholarship Selection Committee shall consist of 3 active ADCES Colorado members. Members of the Scholarship Selection Committee are not eligible to apply for a scholarship during the year/years of their service on the committee.

Applications will be sorted based on the award for which the person applies. The scholarship committee will select the award recipients based on a blinded review of the applications. Selection will be based on meeting the criteria, volunteer service, and on the answer given to the essay question.
