Economic Justice Virtual Summit 2022 Call For Proposals
5th Economic Justice Summit March 8-10, 2022
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
NNEDV will host its 5th Economic Justice Summit March 8-10th, 2022. As part of our ongoing work to highlight and address the intersection of domestic violence and economic security, this national, three-day Summit will bring together advocates, state domestic violence coalitions, national experts, and allies to discuss and share strategies to improve economic security for domestic violence survivors. The Summit will feature speakers, panel discussions and workshops on a range of topics. Our goals for the Summit are to provide a space to examine the systems that inform economic justice work; share concrete and innovative tools; to identify emerging issues including national and local policy solutions; and to strengthen partnerships between the movement to end domestic violence and anti-poverty movement.
Conference Details
DATE: Tuesday March 8th – Thursday March 10th, 2022
The Summit will be virtual, taking place for three (3) hours over three (3) days.
Summit Theme
A culture of caretaking. This includes caretaking of anyone that comes into contact with domestic violence – whether that be surviving it, working in it, caring about someone who is facing it, or wanting to end it.
Summit Audience
Summit attendees include representatives from local programs, state domestic violence coalitions, local and national partners, subject matter experts, advocates, trainers and educators interested in economic justice and empowerment, financial education and anti-violence areas.
Topic Areas and Learning Objectives
Economic security is a key component to safety and survival. Economic justice means advocates, policy makers, organizations and institutions work together to eliminate barriers to access resources so survivors can strengthen their short-term safety and long-term security. Economic justice is incumbent on including all people in building a safe and secure future. Economic justice also means that advocates, programs, coalitions, and community partners are working together to build infrastructure to support access to resources and barrier reduction to financial security for those in the movement.
Conference sessions will be designed to provide attendees with activities, materials, and knowledge to foster involvement within the domestic violence and economic justice fields. We are looking for innovations and strategies that can be applied in multiple circumstances or points of intervention for diverse audiences and communities, especially during this worldwide pandemic. A significant number of participants should represent organizations at the local program level working directly with advocates and survivors.
This year’s Summit will have a focus on caretaking; which can include but not limited to housing, banking/credit and wellbeing (financial care, community care, and self-care). 2021 has been a difficult year. We are seeking to build an ecosystem that provides equitable wellness and economic stability for all. Priority consideration will be given to proposals that address and/or include this focus. We are interested in highlighting innovative partnerships, program expansion opportunities and intersections related to IPV and pursuit of education and job training.
PROPOSALS
Below, we are accepting proposals for breakout sessions to take place during the course of the Summit. Breakout sessions can be single-presenter workshops or panel discussions (maximum of 3 panelists) that will be approximately 75 minutes in length.
