The District’s Climate Leadership Plan has a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100% by 2050 with an interim target of 45% by 2030. In order to help reach these goals, the District is interested in learning more about if and how businesses are taking steps to contribute to this effort.
Background
In 2023, emissions from both residential and commercial sectors in Central Saanich amounted to just over 111,000 tonnes CO2e which is a10% increase in greenhouse gases since the baseline year (2007).

Transportation-related greenhouse emissions accounted for the largest portion of these emissions at (66%). Some ways to reduce emissions from vehicles include transitioning from gasoline or diesel fuels to low-carbon options such as renewable diesel, biodiesel blends or switching to hybrid or fully electric models.
