Introduction

The draft Cochrane policy on scientific misconduct

You have been approached for your comments on the draft Cochrane policy on scientific misconduct.  The draft policy will be revised in response to feedback and, when the policy has been agreed and signed-off by the Editor-in-Chief, it will be incorporated into the Cochrane Editorial and Publishing Policy Resource (EPPR: http://community.cochrane.org/editorial-and-publishing-policy-resource) and then implemented by Cochrane Networks and CRGs with support from Cochrane Editorial and Methods Department (EMD).

The draft policy document is divided into two sections:

1. Draft policy  – for internal and external use, outlining Cochrane policy.

2. Draft guidance  – for internal use, containing guidance and other information useful for implementation of the
policy, including the process to be followed if misconduct is reported or suspected in:
  • Cochrane Reviews and Protocols;
  • studies included in a published Cochrane Review; and
  • studies identified for inclusion in a Cochrane Review.
Please do read through the document, thinking specifically about how the misconduct policy will affect your role; how the policy will be implemented and whether the policy is useful.

Reading through the draft policy document and  responding to the survey should take approximately 30 minutes of your time.

The deadline for responses to the survey is Thursday 31st January 2019.

If you have any questions about this process, the policy, or the survey, please contact Bryony Urquhart (burquhart@cochrane.org).
