Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council Board Member Responsibilities and Expectations As a member of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council Board of Directors, you will help guide and strengthen an organization that empowers girls to lead with courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. Board members play a key role in shaping the council’s strategic direction, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources, and serving as visible champions of the Girl Scout mission throughout our service area that covers southern and southwestern Wisconsin. Through leadership, advocacy, and philanthropy, board members help ensure that Girl Scouting continues to thrive for generations to come. Board members are expected to bring their time, talent, and treasure to the organization while approaching their role with integrity, respect for diverse perspectives, and a commitment to advancing opportunities for all girls in the Badgerland region. Key Responsibilities: Active Participation: Attend at least 75% of board meetings, which are on Thursdays from 4-7, every other month; serve on committees; and participate in at least 1 key council event, such as fundraisers, community programs and/or our annual meeting. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with fellow board members and council leadership to set priorities, approve policies, and monitor progress toward strategic goals. Governance and Accountability: Uphold the highest standards of governance, transparency, and ethical conduct to ensure the council operates in alignment with Girl Scouts USA guidelines and local community needs. Community Engagement: Serve as an ambassador for the Girl Scouts in your community, promoting membership growth, volunteer engagement, and public awareness of the organization’s impact. Fund Development and Advocacy: Contribute to the council’s fundraising efforts and leverage your network to cultivate new supporters, sponsors, and community partners.
