Privacy Statement | Rock-climbing rope use and disposal habits in Australia

This survey collects your name and email address, as well as information about your:
- Climbing habits
- Rope use and disposal practices
- Theoretical willingness to participate in rope recycling initiatives (ReRoped)

• Survey Analysis: Your responses help us identify scale, trends, patterns, and insights relevant to rope use and disposal.
• Research Purposes: Cleaned and anonymised data may be used for research, statistical analysis, reporting, and academic publication.
• Communication: Your name and email may be used to:
- Follow up on incomplete responses.
- Contact you about future research or project updates (only if you opt in).
• Data Sharing: Aggregated, de-identified data may be shared with research partners or for publication. No individually identifiable data will be shared without your explicit consent.

3. Data Handling and Anonymity
Before any analysis or reporting is conducted, all responses are cleaned and anonymised. Personal identifiers (name and email) are removed to ensure your privacy. Your identity will not be disclosed in any reports or publications.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the security and confidentiality of your data.
- Data is protected by encryption and other security measures during transmission and storage.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning data protection and privacy.

- Withdraw your consent to participate—this will result in permanent deletion of your data.

We will retain your survey data only for the duration of the research project or as required by law.
Once no longer needed, all data will be securely deleted in accordance with data protection regulations.

7. Who Has Access
Access to the raw (non-anonymised) survey data is strictly limited to the primary researcher (myself) and one representative from our industry partner (Outdoors NSW & ACT). No other parties will have access to your identifiable information.

8. Survey Platform
The survey is hosted on SurveyMonkey, which adheres to industry-standard data security protocols.
