of the Black Hills community. Because Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is a Christian founded non-profit housing ministry, we seek volunteers to conduct themselves in a way that reflects our mission and principles.

Mission Statement: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities & hope.

Mission principles:

We are committed to supporting high standards of business ethics. We expect volunteers to follow rules of conduct that will protect the interests and safety of all Black Hills Area Habitat employees and volunteers. Depending on the specifics of the situation and the severity of the offense, volunteers may receive warnings, suspensions, or have their role be immediately terminated.

The following provides some, but not all examples that may result in disciplinary action:
• Theft or inappropriate removal or possession of Black Hills Area Habitat property.
• Falsification of documents, failure to disclose a felony conviction and/or being registered as a sexual offender.
• Volunteering under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
• Possession, distribution, sale, transfer, or use of alcoholic or illegal drugs in the work place while
volunteering, or while operating Black Hills Area Habitat-owned vehicles or equipment.
• Fighting, threats of violence, and/or possession of unauthorized materials, explosives, or firearms.
• Negligence or improper conduct leading to damage of Black Hills Area Habitat or another
person’s property.
• Sexual or other harassment or discrimination.
• Inappropriate conduct/behavior which brings discredit upon Habitat for Humanity’s mission and principles
