Science in the Centres 2026: Expression of Interest

ACT National Science Week 2026 will be celebrated across the capital with pop-up stalls in a shopping centre near you.

This is your opportunity to be involved and share your science and expertise with all of Canberra. We are looking for people to run engaging, hands-on activities within each centre on the weekends during National Science Week (15-23 August). This could be STEM
workshops, interactive demonstrations and shows, or hands-on displays, activities and experiments. We are looking for something to entice and excite visitors to the shopping centre, especially targeting families.

Stalls will be running in prominent locations within shopping centres across Canberra.

All activities will be expected to run for at least one day during centre opening hours, approx. 10am-4pm with potential flexibility if required.

All successful stallholders will receive free promotion for their activity provided by the ACT National Science Week committee and the centre marketing team.This kind of activity can help to grow your audience and reach a market you may not usually have the chance to interact with.

It is FREE to participate and basic furniture requirements will be provided (e.g. tables and chairs).

All activities will be covered by the National Science Week public liability insurance and stallholders will need to complete a full risk assessment and all staff/volunteers involved will need a current WWVP check for the ACT.
