Dear Coventry Resident:
The Coventry Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee is developing the town’s first Comprehensive Plan update in over 20 years! This Comprehensive Plan update will guide future actions of the Planning Board, other Boards and Committees, Town officials and citizens for how best to grow and improve the community. We’re asking for your help to ensure that the final plan presents a true reflection of our community’s values.
What is a Comprehensive Plan, and what does it do for Coventry?
- Provides detailed information about land use, housing, natural resources, open space, economic development, and other important topics.
- Summarizes the vision and goals for future development expressed by residents during the comprehensive planning process.
- Clearly states the Town’s priorities and strategies for moving forward to achieve those goals, integrating other town-adopted documents and initiatives.
- Results in a land use plan map illustrating the land use policies to be developed as a result of the planning effort.
As a citizen of Coventry, we are asking for you to give your input through this survey to assist the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee in developing this long-range plan for the community. We encourage you to focus on town qualities that you value and consider how your community can or will change over the next 20 years. Your participation in this survey is critical to the successful development of the Comprehensive Plan.
Physical copies of this survey will be available at the Town Hall - open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Completed surveys can be mailed to 1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, RI 02816, or delivered to at any Town office; Town Hall, Library, Building Office, Parks & Recreation, Police, Human Services or Public Works.
This survey should take you about 15-20 minutes to complete. Please submit your responses by May 13.
Please also consider participating in a public workshop on May 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Coventry Human Services Building at 50 Wood Street. More information is at the https://coventryri.org/comprehensive-plan, where you can also leave a message, and provide any additional comments or concerns for consideration to the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.
