Assessing the impact of Theileriosis on North Coast NSW cattle producers
Why are we doing this survey?
Bovine anaemia due to Theieleria orientalis continues to cause losses on cattle properties in the North Coast region. The disease was initially seen approximately 12 years ago in adult cattle introduced to the area from regions which do not have bush ticks, and therefore those cattle were naïve. Since then we have seen losses in homebred calves at approximately 2-3 months of age. On some properties these losses have been significant. In conducting this survey North Coast LLS is hoping to be better able to quantify the cost of this disease to local producers, as well as identifying possible risk factors.
Participation in this survey is voluntary and other than the time taken for you to complete the survey, there is no cost to you.
