JCCT cover contest 2021 Survey

The editorial board of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT) is excited to announce the finalists of the first JCCT cover contest.

An ideal cover will be a captivating and thought-provoking contribution depicting the contemporary role of cardiovascular computed tomography. The quality, clinical importance and educational value of the image/cover art will be taken into consideration.

Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return with the left upper pulmonary vein draining into the innominate vein is completely demonstrated in a single view by 3D reconstruction. Due to suspected but incompletely defined congenital heart disease, cardiac CT was performed with a large field of view and included a one-minute delayed scan. Post processing independently reconstructed 3D objects using both the initial and delayed scans of the same cardiac phase. Each object was assigned a color palette and then merged into a single 3D image to show the relationship of the anomalous pulmonary vein with the normal venous anatomy.

Hypoattenuation leaflet thickening (HALT) is demonstrated in a cardiac CT 3D cross-sectional image of an Edwards Sapien Ultra TAVR with an increased gradient present on echocardiogram. To reduce motion and blooming artifact, the cardiac CT was performed with a reduced heart rate of 50 bpm with high radiation dose with a small field of view iso-centered on the TAVR. Processing was performed with thin 0.65 mm slices with a sharp filter with a high level of iterative reconstruction. The 3D rendering utilized HU-based colors applied to multiple object segments which were fused together into the image

The image wants to enhance the month of February with a Valentine's heart. Exploiting the dilatation of the atria, an MPR reconstruction of the heart of St. Valentine was obtained. The colors refer to the woman's values. The drawings was all hand made.
