Thank you for your interest in participating in the Government & Public Administration Standards Revision Work Group.

The South Dakota state standards are reviewed on a cycle approved by the State Board of Education as per SD codified law 13-3-48. Career & Technical Education standards are reviewed every five years. Government & Public Administration standards are not currently available.  This work group will develop new standards for this Career Cluster in preparation for public hearings.

The Department of Education is seeking 20-25 work group members, including secondary Career & Technical Education teachers, postsecondary faculty, industry representatives, and parents to develop SD Government & Public Administration standards. Other stakeholders who are interested in the process are also encouraged to apply.

Meeting dates are scheduled for May 31- June 2, 2017 in Brookings at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Additional meetings may be held online as needed following the in-person sessions.

Work group participants will be responsible for developing Government & Public Administration standards. Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
1.)Participating in training to review current labor market data and statewide Perkins data;
2.)Reviewing current courses and pathways;
3.)Revising standards to reflect current labor market needs and industry standards.

Participants will be compensated for their time at a rate of $25/hour for up to six eight-hour days. Meals, mileage, and lodging will also be reimbursed at state rates.
