The PROUD Study - Expression of Interest Form

A team of researchers from Deakin University need your help and are searching for boys aged 10 to 16 years to take part in a research study to investigate the link of diet, bone health and gut health in children and youth. This is an exciting new research study that will provide valuable information on the health of the bones and gut of Australian children living with and without  Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Who Can Participate? Boys 10 to 16 years with and without Autism Spectrum Disorder are being invited to take part in this research project. What is involved? Participation in this study will involve a one-off testing appointment lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours at our research site at Deakin University, Burwood, Vic. It will also require information about your child’s physical activity, food and drink consumption and stool function, to be collected by yourself, at home.

What will you receive for participating? Every child who participates in the study will receive information on their bone and dietary health. Children will also be provided with an estimate of bone age and estimated adult height.   Families will receive a $20 gift voucher in appreciation of their time and contribution to the study. The overall results of the study will provide important information for health and medical research, providing a better understanding of the association between diet, bone health and gut function in children with and without Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
