Several hospitals in the Pittsburgh region are joining researchers at 39 other hospitals across the country to conduct a seizure study called ESETT.

ESETT will study patients who have a seizure lasting longer than five minutes and that does not stop on its own. This condition is known as status epilepticus (SE). ESETT will compare drugs that are commonly used to treat status epileptics.

Because patients are seizing when they might be in ESETT, they cannot give consent to be in the research study. For this type of emergency research situation, which may affect you or someone you know, we ask community members for feedback and comments.

This is just a survey of opinions about ESETT. There are no known risks involved in participating in this survey. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. You may refuse to participate and not to answer any questions that you do not feel comfortable answering.

THANK YOU for your help and time in completing this survey.
