Dear Alaska Seafood Processor:

As part of its Fisheries Seafood Maritime Initiative (FSMI) the University of Alaska is working with Alaska seafood processors, other training providers and state and federal agencies to assess occupational needs and develop a Workforce Development Plan for Alaska seafood processors. We hope that the development of this plan will help training providers (including but not limited to the University) to better meet the needs of the Alaska seafood industry for workforce training, while expanding career opportunities for Alaskans in this industry which plays such an important role in Alaska’s economy.

Attached is a brief survey which asks about the five types of skilled positions for which you face the greatest challenges in finding qualified applicants and hiring. It would be very helpful if someone in your company familiar with Human Resource issues could fill out this survey. If you prefer to respond about fewer or more types of positions, feel free to do so.

All responses will be confidential, and no identifying information for persons or companies will be provided in the report. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
