The Dietetics in Health Care Communities DPG, a dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, established the Gaynold Jensen Memorial Continuing Education Award in 1982.This award provides funding to Academy members for educational programs that enhance the contributions of the consultant dietitian to health care. Tuition and travel will be funded for short-term study, including workshops, seminars, and course work. Funding is limited to $500 or up to 75% of the cost for each educational program as long as it does not exceed $500. Funding will be paid AFTER a final report and proof of expenses are received. No applicant will receive funding more than once every three years.

Specific Submission Guidelines:

The applicant must:
  • Be a registered dietitian (RD)
  • Be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Be a member of the Dietetics in Health Care Communities (DHCC) DPG #31 for at least two years
  • Be currently employed as a consultant dietitian
  • Intend to apply the knowledge gained through the educational program to a future consultant role
Required uploads:
  • A copy of the program announcement
  • Copies of receipts for travel and/or transportation expenses, or documentation of anticipated expenses
After attending the program, recipients must submit a critique and summary of the program as well as proof of attendance at the event. The Academy Foundation will share this with the chair of CDHCF. The report may be included in an Academy Foundation or DHCC newsletter.
