Thank you for you interest in becoming a pre-approved Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) recertification provider! Below you'll find more information about about the process.

By getting preapproval as a recertification provider, you can make your programs more appealing to CPTMs, who are required to recertify every two years by demonstrating that they have continued their education and growth in the learning and development field. On the next page, you will find the application for preapproval as a CPTM recertification provider. Once approved, your status as an approved CPTM recertification provider will be valid for two years. Note, there is a $350 non-refundable fee associated with submitting this application.

As an approved recertification provider, you'll experience these key benefits:
  • Enhanced credibility for the content of your programs. CPTM certification holders will be confident that successfully completing your approved program(s) qualifies for recertification hours.
  • Enhanced publicity for your continuing education programs. All approved continuing education providers will be included in a directory of preapproved CPTM recertification providers and posted online.
  • Additional marketing potential. You'll be able to market your program(s) as a being preapproved by Training Industry for CPTM recertification. The CPTM recertification preapproved seal will be provided for inclusion in your marketing materials.
Qualifications and Guidelines

Programs may include conferences, college or university courses, seminars, webinars, webcasts, podcasts, e-learning programs, and other training relevant experiences. Each continuing education program must meet the following qualifications:
  • The provider must have the resources, facilities, and administrative support to effectively deliver learning and development–related programming.
  • The provider must offer appropriate high-quality programming, developed and presented by appropriate subject matter experts.
  • Program content must be related to learning and development as defined by the seven core responsibilities in the Training Manager Competency Model™.
  • Approval and credits are awarded based on the educational time spent on learning and development–related activities at the rate of one credit hour per physical hour. Meals, breaks, networking, and non-talent-development-related activities will not be counted toward educational time. A maximum number of hours will be preapproved based on the timed agenda for the program. The provider will assign the earned credit hours to each participant based on participation. The maximum number of hours can be awarded only to those participants who participated in the full program.
  • A process must be in place to track attendee participation and completion.
Credit Hour Examples
  1. One-hour educational program = 1 CPTM recertification hour
  2. One-and-a-quarter-hour conference session = 1.25 CPTM recertification hours
  3. Three-hour e-learning course = 3 CPTM recertification hours
