The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) launched the Zambia Diaspora Policy in April 2019. The Government has commissioned this Survey under the Building the Capacity of the Government of Zambia to Maximize Development Potential of the Diaspora Project. The International Organization for Migration (IOM – United Nations Migration Agency), with financial support from IOM Development Fund (IDF), is the main cooperating partner supporting the Project. The Project’s overall objective is to improve and strengthen the Government’s capacity to mainstream and harness development potential of the Zambian Diaspora in National Development.

IOM (2019) defines remittances as any financial or in-kind transfers/support migrants provide to individuals or communities or projects with whom such migrants have links in their countries of origin. Accordingly, the main objective of this Survey is to collect, anonymously, basic personal information, time lived abroad, occupation, earnings, remittances patterns and associated costs, Zambia Diaspora Policy awareness, Government Diaspora outreach activities, and willingness to participate in Government initiated Diaspora focused national development initiatives.

Please, be assured that the information you provide in this Survey will be treated with utmost confidentiality and will not be used for any other purpose apart from the National Remittances Study.
