We Value Your Input: Which Events Do You Want Sponsored in Baltimore?

Dear NeMLA Members:

Every year, the meeting of the Northeast Modern Language Association hosts a number of events that highlight the cultural offerings of our local host city. This year’s meeting in Baltimore offers numerous options for experiencing the art, culture, and history of Maryland’s largest city and an important location for activism, civic service, and scholarship.

NeMLA collaborates with local businesses and the local tourism board to host free and discounted events, with options including museum tickets, theatrical performances, tours of archives and libraries, social events at local restaurants, and field trips to nearby attractions. We are interested in hosting a range of events that appeal to the professional, scholastic, and personal interests of our members, as well as numerous events for families.

To best address the desires of our members, we would appreciate your input on which local Baltimore events you want to see NeMLA sponsor. This sponsorship would allow our members to enjoy what Baltimore has to offer, with cost of admission discounted for you thanks to NeMLA's sponsorship. Please respond to this survey by Monday, December 5, so that we may begin scheduling events that speak to the interests of our members.

The following pages list our proposed events with descriptions. Depending on the needs of our members, most events can be scheduled on any day during, before, or after the NeMLA convention. These events are in addition to the sessions and speakers planned as part of the convention. The survey is organized as pages separated by the type of event: Museums and Galleries, Tours, Local Interest and Informal Activities, Live Performances, and Day Trips and Excursions.

Thank you for your help in determining the best events to complement your experience at NeMLA's Baltimore convention. We look forward to seeing you in March!

All the best,

Marica Antonucci and Janet Gomez, Local Graduate Liaisons
