City of Rockingham's Bandicoot and Fox Survey
Have you seen a bandicoot or fox recently? We'd like to know about it.
The City is currently monitoring bandicoots throughout nature reserves that are included in our feral animal control program. The data gathered will be used, in part, to understand the level of benefit the feral animal control program is having on native species. Feral animals, such as foxes, are predators of native animals including bandicoots. The results of the 2020 survey will be compared to data from a similar survey completed in 2018 to understand how the bandicoot numbers have changed. Understanding the effects that the control program has on native animals will help guide future control programs and improve effectiveness. We are seeking your support in reporting recent sightings of bandicoots and foxes at home, on walks or in nature reserves to contribute to our total data collected.
