Dear residents and property owners of Wilmington,
One of the primary roles of the Planning Commission is to review and update the Wilmington town plan every 8 years. Our current town plan was last updated in 2018 and, under Vermont statue, we are required to update the town plan by October 2026. Some of you might ask “why is a town plan important?” Good question. In short:
- The town plan is central to helping Wilmington plan for its future and consider the kind of town we want to be. It establishes a shared vision and values for our community.
- It covers critical topics and lays out a future plan and goals for each including: land use; transportation; town government, community facilities, town services and recreation; natural, historic, and cultural resources; education; energy; housing; economic development; and flood resiliency.
To kick off the process of updating the town plan, our first step is to hear from you using this community survey. We also plan on holding a public informational meeting in the fall, so please look out for more information about this.
Thank you in advance for your support,
The Wilmington Planning Commission
