Northern Virginia Regional Trails Survey

The Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) is working to expand our regional trails program and develop a regional trail planning framework that identifies methods to implement priority programs and initiatives that improve Northern Virginia communities’ connectivity and accessibility to trail systems.

At present, NVRC supports the advancement of recreational trails across Northern Virginia. Through data and mapping activities, special studies, and coordination with land owners and managers, planning and park agencies, advocacy groups, and other trail partners, NVRC aims to address the range of needs and priorities for trails in the region. Specifically, since the 1980s, NVRC has been providing local coordination for the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail (PHNST) sections in Northern Virginia through partnerships with the National Park Service and land owners and managers. Over the past two years NVRC has expanded its trails program to focus on the entire regional trail system.

In order to build off of current work and create our new regional framework, we want to hear from you and understand your priorities, needs, and perspectives on how NVRC can support you and/or your organization.

Please fill out this survey and reach out to Linnea Sherman, NVRC's Regional Trails Coordinator, at lsherman@novaregion.org with any questions.
