1. The Qudra Programme

"Qudra – Resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi crises" is a regional action financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, the 'Madad' Fund, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), seeking to strengthen the resilience of Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi crises. Qudra – an Arabic word meaning ‘strength’, ‘ability’ or ‘resilience’ – launched in June 2016 is being jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Expertise France (EF), Spanish Agency for International Development (AECID) and Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) in programme partner countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq/KRI.

2. Qudra- Module 5

The Qudra Programme has five Modules. Qudra’s Module 5 – “Facilitating Dialogue and Dissemination” aims to provide opportunities for refugees, IDPs, and host community members for dialogue, exchange experiences and know-how and learn from each other. The module links the other four modules of the Programme and its stakeholders and beneficiaries and is operating across the region to highlight the quality and added value of Qudra as a regional programme. Module 5 aims to give a voice to refugees, members of host communities and IDPs through various formats, such as an online platform, conferences, peer to peer workshops and the “EU Madad Innovation Labs”.

3-EU Madad Innovation Labs

The EU Madad Innovation Labs (“Labs”) bring people from diverse backgrounds together to jointly learn and develop innovative solution oriented projects, so called prototypes, tackling local challenges in the context of the Syrian and Iraqi crises to strengthen the resilience of refugees/IDPs and host communities. The Labs serve as a platform for exchanging experiences and learning participatory techniques. Each Lab round addresses a different guiding question related to the working areas of Qudra, which are education, skills development, social cohesion and local administration and cross-cutting issues like gender, disability, and protection.

4. EU Madad Innovation Lab III on Women Empowerment:

With women and girls making up to an estimated 50 per cent of the over 65 million forcibly displaced worldwide, it is necessary that the International Community and the respective civil societies, to not only address their specific needs and aspirations, but also to use their capacity and talents and thus ensuring a positive transition of the society.

Recently several organizations working in the humanitarian field have introduced specific programmes aiming to encourage women to participate in decision making processes on political, social and economic levels. To contribute to the achievement of this target, the Qudra Programme designated the overall topic of the third round of its EU Madad Innovation Lab in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and in the Kurdish Region of Iraq/KRI to “women empowerment”.
