Section 1 - Information

Conservation Volunteers New Zealand is currently working on an environmental initiative with the Manurewa, Papakura and Franklin Local Boards – The Papakura Stream Landowner Engagement Survey.
The purpose of this project is to engage with residents, mana whenua, businesses, landowners and industry within the Papakura Stream catchment and determine priorities for stream restoration, raise awareness around the health of the waterway, and encourage participation or sponsorship in future restorative action.
This strategy will be useful to create a shared vision for the three Local Boards involved in the area (Manurewa, Papakura and Franklin) but also to create a strong, positive relationship between the community and landowners with the stream. Therefore it is important to know what kind of conservation and restoration projects the community, businesses and private landowners are inclined to actively support and participate in; and determine the barriers and the benefits to local waterway protection and improving water quality.
