Our Mission is to serve all survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, education, and activism.

Our volunteer's advocates come from all walks of life and educational backgrounds. They have an empathetic and non-judgmental attitude and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all agency policies.

The role of a crisis line advocate:
  • Offer emotional support to victims and survivors of sexual assault by staffing a 24-hour crisis line.
  • Provide resources and referrals to crisis line callers as needed.
  • Be trained to serve better victims, families, and friends who may call the crisis line.
  • Take at least two crisis line shifts a month from 5:00 pm to 8:00 am during the week and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 5:00 pm to 8:00 am on weekends.
  • The crisis line calls are forwarded to the advocates home or cell phone.
  • Advocates must be 18 years of age or older
  • Complete an application
  • Complete an initial interview
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check
  • All volunteer advocates are required to complete a crisis line advocacy training.  The training teaches advocacy skills and educates individuals about resources in the community, enabling volunteers to provide support to victims and survivors of sexual assault.
  • For safety and privacy reasons, volunteer advocates do not provide transportation or personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, etc.
  • We ask that our volunteers commit for at least one year.
