Background Information
Vitamins are essential nutrients required for growth, immunity, and overall health. Since the body cannot produce most vitamins in sufficient amounts, they must be obtained through diet, fortification, or supplementation. Food fortification is the process of adding essential vitamins and minerals to commonly consumed foods to prevent deficiencies and improve public health. Example includes; Vitamin A added to margarine and dairy products. Vitamin supplementation involves consuming concentrated forms of vitamins such as tablets, capsules, or drops to meet daily nutritional needs.
Despite these interventions, consumer awareness and adoption of food fortification and supplementation vary. Factors such as dietary habits, socioeconomic status, cultural preferences, and public health policies influence how effectively people incorporate essential vitamins into their diets. This study aims to explore the awareness and practices of vitamin D in fortification and supplementation. This findings are essential for enhancing food safety by providing insights to guide food safety policies and public health strategies.
